I really loved reading Still Life and thought it was equal parts funny and engaging and the tv series seems to mirror that same vibe, introducing us to this town of quirky individuals whilst also setting up a dark and engaging murder mystery.

Going into this series I had limited knowledge of the original novels, having only read book one (as well as watching the film adaptation for said book), but from what I can remember Three Pines seems like a pretty decent adaptation and a lot of the characters and general vibe of the titular town seem spot on. This however is far from the truth and the investigation sends the pair into dangerous territory that may put both their jobs and lives in serious jeopardy. Meanwhile Gamache and Lacoste also begin investigating the disappearance of Blue Two-Rivers (Anna Lambe), a young Indigenous woman who everybody believes had run away with her boyfriend. Working alongside fellow detectives Jean-Guy Beauvoir (Rossif Sutherland, Reign) and Isabelle Lacoste (Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers ) as well as Three Pines cop and local annoyance Yvette Nichol (Sarah Booth), the team soon realise that Three Pines has a dark history and despite its local beauty, murder is a regular occurrence among the close and quirky residents.īecoming particularly friendly with local artist Clara Morrow (Anna Tierney), Gamache repeatedly investigates Clara and her friends as they keep getting caught up in the deaths of residents. Three Pines follows Chief Inspector Armand Gamache (Alfred Molina, Spiderman No Way Home), as he is called in to investigate a series of murders in small town Three Pines, a picturesque place where nothing bad ever seems to happen.
